This movie was an absolute rollercoaster. I had no idea what to expect going in to it but I was not expecting that. A24 Films tend to keep viewers on their toes with sound, editing and distinctive shot perspectives, and The Drama was no different. From a cinematography perspective, the film was excellent. Zendaya and Robert Pattinson delivered stellar performances, as usual, and I think they really did everything they could with their characters. With that being said, the storyline ended up falling a bit flat for me. The film explores the complicated feelings that come with cold feet and questions how well you can truly know the person you go to bed with every night. However, considering they made such a serious subject the main catalyst of the entire movie, I felt like everything else that followed stayed too surface level and predictable before they completely abandonded the subject altogether. It's hard not to enjoy a film starring Rob Pattinson or Zendaya but ultimately I ended up losing interest and I was frustrated by the film's failure to explore and acknowledge such serious subject matter.
